Hi, I am Mandeep Uppal, Registered Dietitian. I have completed my PhD degree in Foods and Nutrition in India which has been recognized as an equivalent degree from Canadian University by Comparative Education Services. I have completed the bridging program IDPP (International Dietetics Pre-Registration Program) from Ryerson University.
I am a Certified Diabetes Educator specializing in providing nutritional counselling for gestational diabetes, type 2 and type 1 diabetes.
South Asians are at a higher risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes compared to other ethnic groups. Having rice and roti as a staple meal makes it challenging to manage blood sugar levels. I work exclusively with the South Asian population to help manage their blood sugars, cholesterol and blood pressure while continuing eating their staple meals. I speak Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu. I prepare meal plans based on South Asian foods so that you continue to enjoy your meals and improve your health.
I Inspire and empower people with evidence-based, practical knowledge and skills. I truly believe that food is more than just nutrients. Food is about comfort, culture and relationships.
I use a non-diet approach to encourage clients to focus on health and health behaviours instead of body weight and size. What this means is that I help shift the focus from numbers on the scale to establishing a healthy relationship with food.
I provide individualized support on:
